   The Killer Open Mic, and The Artbar Riverwest is one of Milwaukee's longest-running comedy events. Originally "Last-Laugh Thursdays", Caste Of Killers' maiden-voyage into the comedy world, this comedy show has take on a life of its own. Now a steady Open Mic where anybody with the guts to perform in front of one of the most unpredictable crowds in the land may do so. This is the kind of room that will give a up-and-coming comedian the thick skin that is needed in this business. Damon Millard described an evening at Artbar like this:  "Bombing at The Killer Mic is like getting a month of comedy experience rolled up into a painfully hard to swallow 5-minutes of medicine.Will you be a better comic for performing here...? You bet your ass you will. And that time when you own on stage there, you'll be a God, a God who has to get home to his studio apartment."

  That's right! Starting at 8:30pm, and lasting till after midnight, bringing in December 22nd, there will be 4 hours of hilarious stand-up comedy brought to you by some of the funniest comics from California, New York, Chicago, Madison, Appleton, and more. All of this for the price of normally schedule Milwaukee Showcase.

  Wednesday December, 12th is a super-special editon of Open Mic Under The Stairs. Milwaukee's hottest open mic, levels-up a knotch for the season and as a special holiday preset to you guys we've invited star of the screen and stage to perform. Tom Clark. 
  
   
  
  Tom Clark is the boy next door...if you lived next door to an insane asylum.
  Whether it’s his off kilter observations, his knack for spontaneous crowd
  interaction, or his unusual physical comedy, Clark’s act has a little something
  for everyone. This has allowed Clark to perform coast to coast and around the
  world at both New Faces at the prestigious Montreal ‘Just For Laughs
  Comedy Festival’ and on The Main Stage at ‘The Capetown Comedy Festival’
  in South Africa. Other appearances include: CBS’s ‘Late Late Show’, NBC’s
  Last Comic Standing, The Bob & Tom Radio Show, and Comedy Central’s
  ‘Premium Blend’.
  Clark has a strong background in improv and sketch having completed the
  Second City Conservatory in Chicago and being a Main Company member at
  ComedySportz LA. Clark has also landed several guest starring roles
  including the Hallmark made for TV movie ‘The Wish List’, NBC’s
  ‘Outsourced’, and even a dramatic role on TNT’s ‘The Closer’ opposite Kyra
  Sedgewick...yes he was the murderer. After landing the role on ‘Outsourced’,
  director Ken Kwapis invited Clark to be in the Drew Barrymore movie,
  ‘Everybody Loves Whales’, which will be released in 2012.
  
  Those regular comics who ordinarily come out to do their jokes will still be allowed to sign up, however nobody is guaranteed a spot in the show that night. Comedians names will be drawn randomly from a hat, and those lucky few will get the chance to open up for tom in this very special COK event. Now go spread the word to your friends.

  The Killer Open Mic is the original show started by CASTE OF KILLERS back in March of 2010. The Show, which started off as Last Laugh Thursdays, a showcase developed to introduce the talented local comics of the area to those who had no idea we existed, has grown, and evolved into the most challenging open mics anywhere. The risk is high and so is the pay off. To me THE KILLER OPEN MIC is a boot camp, its lessons are sometimes of the tough-love variety, but the comics that frequent this mic grow into the best comics in the city. Every year Cast Of Killers crowns a Milwaukee Stand-Up Comedy Champion and this year the stakes are even higher as we team up with Jimbo Jameson and Milwaukee Comedy. That's right, In addition to all the prestige and bragging rights that come with being crowned Milwaukee's funnies stand-up comic, the winner will earn a spot in the Milwaukee Comedy Festival. It's bigger, it's better and you better believe it'll be a whole lot funnier.
  
  Here's how the whole thing works:
  Next week there will be an announcement on www.cokcomedy.com, www.Milwaukeecomedy.net, MKEfunny.com, Facebook, and twitter. Go to the webpage fill out the registration form and cross your finger that you are chosen to compete.
  
  There will be two satellite rounds; April 2nd @ Carte Blanche Studios, and April 26th @ Art Bar River West. Each satellite round will have up to 15 contestants who will perform 5 minutes of stand-up. Judges will be scoring the performers on a scale of 1-10 in four categories. One of the categories being audience's choice so make sure to invite your entire neighborhood. 5 contestants will move on from each round (if you don't make the top 5 on April 2nd you are still eligible to compete on April 26th.)
  
  The 10 Finalist will then advance to compete in the finals on May 5th @ Comedysportz. Contestants will get 5 minutes to perform in round 1. Judging will be the same as in the earlier satellites. The fileld will be reduced to the top 3 and those 3 get another 5 minutes. The Judges will then crown Milwaukee's Funniest Comic.
  
  In addition to the spot in The Milwaukee Comedy Festival, the winner will also recieve a spot in COK's The MIlwaukee Stand-Up Comedy Showcase, the Byron Beck Trophy, and other prizes to be announced later once we've had a chance to look through our basements for other items.

  The Killer Comedy Show!  This is one of the best nights for comedy in the entire state of Wisconsin. The 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month Art Bar River West hosts the comedians from Caste Of Killers who put on on hella-funny Open Mic. The rules are pretty simple; tell your friends, get them down to the bar and if you're a comic make sure you're there by 8:30 to sign up for the show that starts promptly at 9pm. Do you have a joke that is right on the cusp of brilliant but you can't seem to get over the hump? Come knock it out on a great stage in a great room. Are you looking for feedback and/or advice? The Killers will all be on hand to dispense months of accumulated wisdom. Whether that advice is going to get you on the road to being a true blue comic or behind bars rocking the orange garb all depends on how we're feeling that evening. Roll the dice and grab the mic. Comedians with get 5 minutes to do what they do...there are no language restrictions, and although we do not believe in censorship, if you are a hate monger...your mic will probably get cut and and then you might get fucked up by those you offended with your hatred. •  And so we bid farewell to a friend that has treated us well. Studio 200 has passed, ladies and gentlemen. I hope that you make peace in your hearts with this. Fret not, loyal practitioners of this silky smarm. In it's place, we have been granted permission to put on an open mic in the space that plays host to the best comedy show in the city. The Friday Open Mic has now been moved to Karma. On the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month, you can catch the cities best comics working out that next genius bit that you will poorly repeating to your friends for months. Here is where you catch lightning. These performers are going to cost $30 to see here in a few short years. Why don't you come out to see how they got there? So you can say "Hey, I saw that guy in the basement of an aptly named tavern so many years ago.
  
  This is no regular joe average open mic, though. The first ten performers will be picked on a first come, first serve basis. Those ten will be doing approximately 7 minutes of material. After that portion of the open mic is completed, one of our amateurs will get the opportunity to do a 10-15 set of their best work. Who this is will be determined by a number of factors, all of them having to do with work. Hosts will be rotating.

We don't really know, but one thing is for sure...you won't have to leave it to your imagination. At the behest of the NICE ASH management, our theme will be dirty, sexy t-shirts. Take an old t-shirt and some scissors and turn it into something that would never be allowed in church; show off what ya got...we will also declare a winner who will recieve a free drink and a less dirty, less sexy t-shirt with a Caste Of Killers logo on it.

• On a dark and stormy night a crowd of well-dressed republicans file into the luxurious Nice Ash Cigar Bar to watch a comedy show. Suddenly a flash of lightning. The lights flicker and the entire front row of comedy fans are headless. A moment later there's a scream from the bathroom...two women are found murdered, their necklaces broken, pearls scattered about the bathroom floor. The bartender runs to the phone to dial the police, but to no avail...the line has been cut...and the murder or murderers are still in the building. Can U guess who done it?

Massive unemployment and a dearth of places to perform have thrown most of the cities comics into a state of chaos; they respond with unprecedented violence and hacky punchlines. Desperate to ...restore order, a local collective responds by creating theCoK Battle Royale, in which groups of stand up comics are selected at random, thrown onto an isolated stage, and forced to play a rigorous war game.

• Sometimes, the sacrifices we make in the name of the mic are too much to take.Mike Lebovitz knows this. That's why he had to leave the collective. After the incident with the Merry Go Round. Things like that change a mans life. Leave him scarred.  Now the Caste of Killers want him back. The stage is calling his name. There is a madman known only as Odd on the loose and only one man is Jew enough to stop him. He won't be alone, though. That's right. This time he brought backup. Fresh from the streets of Chicago, Charlie Bury brings his extensive experience with merkin' and mermaids to the case. Plucked from the underground hip-hop/charleston street dancing circuit, Beth Lewinski is going to be making sure hacks in this town get served. It won't be easy,though. Not with Captain Jeremy Eineichner breathing down his throat. Forced to rely on the one comedian he thought was done for good, Jeremy knows a man can only take so much. He doesn't trust Lebovitz but this case isn't about trust. It's about results. Cigars and results. Cigars and hookahs and awesome  comedy and results.
